World Futures Day | UNESCO

UNESCO's International Day dedicated to futures and foresight to promote more anticipatory public policies. The 2025 edition, with the theme "Anticipation in an Era of Volatility ," brings together plenary sessions and panels in a single day focused on developing futures literacy skills, promoting intersectoral dialogue (education, social sciences, culture), and translating these discussions into concrete decisions. The event is usually held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris , with prior registration and coverage in English and French. In 2025, the agenda is particularly connected to the dialogue "AI and the Futures of Education" and to discussions on curriculum, digital citizenship, and open educational resources.

My participation in this event has a dual purpose . On the one hand, as director of the UNESCO Chair in Education and Technology for Social Change at the UOC , it involves identifying how the Chair's activities can be increasingly aligned with the objectives set by UNESCO. On the other hand, as director of the Research Centre on the Futures of Education in the Digital Age (UOC-FuturEd) , I will attend those sessions from which I can draw the most valuable insights and contribute from the perspective of the Centre's objectives.
